Distribution of Gaussian Process Arc Lengths

چکیده
We present the first treatment of the arc length of the Gaussian Process (gp) with more than a single output dimension. Gps are commonly used for tasks such as trajectory modelling, where path length is a crucial quantity of interest. Previously, only paths in one dimension have been considered, with no theoretical consideration of higher dimensional problems. We fill the gap in the existing literature by deriving the moments of the arc length for a stationary gp with multiple output dimensions. A new method is used to derive the mean of a one-dimensional gp over a finite interval, by considering the distribution of the arc length integrand. This technique is used to derive an approximate distribution over the arc length of a vector valued gp in R by moment matching the distribution. Numerical simulations confirm our theoretical derivations.

Shortest Path Problem with Gamma Probability Distribution Arc Length
We propose a dynamic program to find the shortest path in a network having gamma probability distributions as arc lengths. Two operators of sum and comparison need to be adapted for the proposed dynamic program. Convolution approach is used to sum two gamma probability distributions being employed in the dynamic program.
متن کاملOn the Relative Lengths of Excursions Derived from a Stable Subordinator
Results are obtained concerning the distribution of ranked relative lengths of excursions of a recurrent Markov process from a point in its state space whose inverse local time process is a stable subordinator. It is shown that for a large class of random times T the distribution of relative excursion lengths prior to T is the same as if T were a xed time. It follows that the generalized arc-si...

متن کاملExperimental and numerical study of heat flux distribution in laser forming of bi-layer sheets
Laser forming is a modern process which is mainly used for forming metals. Different Lasers are used in this regard that includes Nd: YAG and CO2. In this study, forming bi-layer sheets of Aluminum/Ceramic by Laser was investigated. Furthermore, effect of Uniform and Gaussian heat flux distribution in different power, velocity, and beam diameters on bending angle was studied. FEM simulation ind...
متن کاملNumerical and Experimental Study of Geometrical Dimensions on Laser-TIG Hybrid Welding of Stainless Steel 1.4418
In this paper, a three-dimensional finite element model has been developed to simulate the laser-TIG hybrid welding (HLAW) of stainless steel 1.4418 with thickness of 4 mm. Transient temperature profile and dimensions of the fusion zone and heat affected zone (HAZ) during welding process are calculatedusing finite element method (FEM) and were solved in the ABAQUS/Standard software. The heat sou...
